Sports Activities
At School sports are widely recognized as a tool of child development and health promotion, with 75% of parents of children in Middle or Secondary school saying they encourage participation in Sports. (NIS, Patiala/G.S. Aulukh, 2015). School has built in a single period for sports in the Daily Time Table (40 Minutes). Sports activity in a variety of forms is conducted on a daily basis at the School.
Benefits of a daily exposure to Sports at BLPS:
Regular physical activity benefits our Students in many ways, including helping build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints; helping control weight and reduce fat; and preventing or delaying the development of high blood pressure. School is conscious that Adolescents who play sports are eight times as likely to be active at age 24 as adolescents who do not play sports. Also, School endorses – Physical activity is associated with improved academic achievement, including grades and standardized test scores. Further, such activity can affect cognitive skills, attitudes and academic behaviour, including enhanced concentration, attention, and improved classroom behaviour.
The School has employeed 3 Sports Teachers to make use of / put in working order following sports facilities, at the disposal of the School Time Table:
